Historically, and for the most part, Atlanta has always had one of a kind attractions.

With Goliath, the name was not totally unique, but the ride was different. All be it, it was a "new" coaster because of the ride layout. That goes for most attractions too.

Atlanta almost always got "special new rides" before other parks. Sure you can find like attractions, but for the most part special.

I don't think anyone will complain. But then again.... evil

Very true,. Mr.6
Out of the 10 coasters we have, 8 of them have unique layouts, so we should still be optimistic the next new coaster will be unique as well. Even if it just has a unique name and theme I'll be happy(Heck, if it's an good cloned coaster I won't complain  cheesy )

I don't want to be negative here...but I just don't see us getting a new coaster any time soon.  In fact, I think Goliath will have to turn 10 before the company thinks "lets put a new one in at SFoG".  With 10 coasters, SFoG is already 'saturated'.

Additionally, the chain has gotten great traction off the "family experience" efforts  implemented across the chain.  From a business perspective, I could see them adding more (thrill) flats that the entire family can ride together for the next several years before they ever make a huge investment in a coaster.

Just my two-cents...  We'll have to wait and see how it all shakes out - particularly with the new leadership of Six Flags, Inc. in place.

I agree to a point Rabun Gap, but I still believe that a mild family coaster might still be in the works, whether it is Tony Hawk or something more similar to the Dark Knight. The area is perfect for it. You already have a completely intact queue line with the Free Fall building, as well as a station and computer room from free fall as well. Free Falls 4-lane loading station is perfect to load two mouse or spinning style cars at a time.

Who knows though, they make tear all this down and rebuild it from scratch. I'd take a Huss Giant Frisbee or Giant Swing any day over a new mouse coaster. I absolutely love Delirium and Maxair, as well as Skyhawk. They're good rides that the family can enjoy too to an extent.

I can say though that as much as I enjoy a bare bone white knuckle thrill ride, I have slowly changed my preferences to rides with good storylines first and foremost. Give me a mediocre coaster any day with a fantastic theme. Expedition Everest is a perfect example. If you look at what the coaster does by itself its rather boring to be honest. However when you add in the soundtrack, the mountain, and the Yeti it becomes a fantastic ride. I don't even ever consider myself to be a "roller coaster" enthusiast anymore. I think "theme park" enthusiast fits better. Its the entire theme that I go for these days. Sure, I can have fun at Six Flags, but you'll find me sitting at the Three Broomsticks eating roasted corn and sipping on some butterbeer before you see me running out for a relatively unthemed ride.

Just my two cents Wink.

On a side note-Oh my did Chris just write something sorta negative about Six Flags  evil....Haven't really done that in a long time Wink

OMG... I feel faint...  cheesy

If they would build up the ride so that not all of it is outside, or even all of it inside it might be more fun and easier to theme. I just don't see it fitting well in the section if it is all outside.

One thing I'd definitely redo is Thomas Town.... compared to other parks ours is mediocre at best. Especially after Great America opened theirs this year.

We could use another dark ride to escape the summer heat and the Scooby Doo ride at SFSL looks fun. It's not Disney or Universal quality but would still be fun and AIR CONDITIONED. Other than maybe a mouse, we really don't need another coaster.

Disney is so so into details. That's what does it. The little things.

As far as no coasters, I beg to differ. That is this chains trademark. And no need to change it. That is Six Flags.

Now inside dark ride, coaster structure? That is what is needed. And themed. Well themed.

I think you can tell that guests numbers are down when there is no new attraction. Stands to reason, and you can't have a new attraction each year.

All it takes is money. evil

I just wish they would bring back the Batman Stunt Spectacular. I realize that stunt shows are expensive attractions, but they are still attractions. It wasn't called Spectacular for nothing.

Also, I wish they would bring the themeing back to the que line of Batman: The Ride. I really don't understand the purpose of removing it in the first place. I know they removed a majority of it after the decapitation incident, but why? This isn't a whiny complaint, I would genuinely like to know why they felt it was necessary to remove it.

As a production/special effects designer Batman used to be my favorite ride in the park. Not just the coaster, but the immersive experience of riding it. Steam escaping from askewed manhole covers, toxic waste actually accumulating, the junkyard with old motorcycles, busted pipes, and barking dogs, the crashed police car and spewing hydrant...it was like actually walking into Gotham City. Now it's just a coaster sitting on a pile of gravel.

So, I guess my wish for 2011 is for the themeing to return to the Batman que line. I know we'll never get the Stunt Spectacular back, but the themeing cost virtually nothing yet added so much to the experience of riding Batman. Heck, I'd replace every bit of it free of charge from my personal inventory if they'd just let me. That's how much I loved it.

Chris, I think it's now you're allowed to say something negative about Six Flags.

As of a year ago, the plan was for Tony Hawk, and I don't think things have changed that much.

I haven't been to the park this year, and frankly, I'm not sure if I'm welcome there anymore.  We'll have to see.

LOOKS are deceiving sometimes evil...That's not funny, I take it back. Guess I'm still thinking about the comment Brad made in WWHP thread. Hey, that's a few "w"s too.

Anyway Sqid, pm me, or post, as I'd like to know too. With so many to be upset with in the past? Why you? I agree with Mark on this one.

Per Screamscape, the last ride for Shake, Rattle, and Roll is August 8th.  Construction barriers will go up around the Drive-In theater, old FreeFall site, as well as SRR site.  Could be one of those Tony Hawk spinning coasters, but who knows.

Has anyone seen any markings or construction stakes anywhere in that area?

Just to kinda keep this thread going, lol, wouldn't it be cool if we could have gotten "Time Machine," former "Led Zepplin" at Freestyle Music Park??
